JAMMU, Dec 24: Talented and explosive south-paw Puneet Kumar slammed a thunderous century as Simula XI thrashed Media XI by a huge margin of 104 runs in the ongoing CII Corporate Cricket tournment, being played at KC Sports Club, here.
The CII T-20 Corporate Cricket League is being organized by Vivek Bhardwaj, Deputy Director and Head, CII J&K State Confederation of Indian Industry.
Earlier, winning the toss and electing to bat first, Simula scored 197 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Puneet was the top scorer with 100 runs off 54 balls, hitting 4 sixes and 11 fours, while Shashi and Hilal Raher contributed 29 and 25 runs respectively to the total. Sunil Bali and Rahul Khatri claimed 2 wickets each for Media XI.
Media XI, in reply scored 93 for the loss of 7 wickets. Sunil Bali also contributed with bat by scoring 36 runs. Hilal Rather and Kuldeep Kumar took 3 and 2 wickets respectively. Puneet was declared man of the match.
In second match of the day played between PDD and Engineer’s XI, PDD defeated Engineer’s XI by 6 wickets. It was a low scoring match. Batting first Engineer’s XI scored 114 in 17.4 overs. Provin bhat was the top scorer for Engineer’s XI and scored 31 runs. Ratneesh Puri took 3 wickets each for PDD.
PDD chased the total and won the match by 6 wickets. Manoj Manhas was the top scorer with 63 runs and was given man of the match.
The match was officiated by Ashish Koul and Vijay Kumar, and scorer Shiv Kumar. Ajaz Kazmi, Ratneesh Puri and Hilal Rather facilitated the man of the match awardees.
