PU Patiala to lock horns with Delhi University in TT C’ship

JAMMU, Jan 14: Outplaying their rivals convincingly in the semifinals, Punjab University Patiala and Delhi University sealed berth in the finals and will lock horns against each other in the summit clash of the ongoing North Zone Inter-University Table Tennis (M) Tournament 2017-18 organized by the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education at Varsity Gymnasium Hall, here.
Earlier, in the semifinals, Punjab University Patiala beat GNDU Amritsar by 3-1, while Delhi University beat Lucknow University by 3-0.
In the quarterfinals, Punjab University Patiala beat Punjab University Chandigarh by 3-1; GNDU Amritsar defeated University of Jammu by 3-0; Lucknow University trounced Jamia Millia Islamia University by 3-2 and Delhi University got the better of MDU Rohtak by 3-0.
Neeru  Malik, the Observer of the tournament appointed by the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi  and  Prof Avtar S. Jasrotia, Director Sports and PE, JU were the special guests of the today’s  morning and evening session matches respectively.
The matches were officiated by VK Gulati, Yatish Kumar, Deepak, Mohit, S. Gurvinder Singh, S. Gurpreet Singh, Sujay, Gaurav Sharma, Manarch Chopra, Manisha, Pushap Lata and Meenu Rajesh.
