P&S Bank to lock horns with Punjab Police in summit clash

JAMMU, Mar 13: Punjab and Sindh Bank and Punjab Police today sailed into the finals of 4th All India Police Martyrs’ Memorial Hockey Tournament-2015 after they won their respective semi final clashes played here at KK Hakhu Astroturf stadium.
In the semifinals played today, Punjab & Sindh Bank defeated Indian Air Force while Punjab Police outplayed New Gurdaspur Club to cruise into finals of the Tournament being played tomorrow.
The first semi final of the day was played between Indian Air Force and Punjab & Sindh Bank, in which the later emerged winner by 9-7.
The match was decided through penalty shootout as both the teams scored four goals each till the end of second round.
During penalty shootout P&S Bank sounded the board five times while the opponent team of India Air Force was able to net the ball only three times to be the losers.
For Punjab & Sindh Bank Gurvider, Vikramjeet, Satvir and Parvinder Singh scored goals in 3rd, 14th, 23rd and 41st minute of the game while Satvir, Harbir, Parvinder, Sarwanjeet and Vikramjeet Singh converted penalty shootout chances into goals to take their team to final score of 9-7. Deputy Commissioner Jammu, A K Sahu, who was the chief guest on the occasion, handed over the SNTPL Man of the Match to Harvant Singh of Indian Air Force for his excellent display of talent during the match.
In another semi final match, Punjab Police trounced New Gurdaspur club 10-0. Harinder Singh remained leading goal scorer of the match with three goals. He was adjudged SNTPL Man of the match. The award was presented to him by IGP Jammu Zone, Rajesh Kumar, the chief guest on the occasion. Satvinder Singh and Amit Sandu scored two goals each while Jasbinder Singh, Vikramjeet Singh and Simarjeet Cahal scored a goal each to enter finals of the tournament.
Punjab Police and Punjab & Sindh Bank will clash for the title of the tournament in the evening tomorrow, while Indian Air Force and New Gurdaspur Club will lock horns for the third place.
