Reasi, Sept 21: The Department of Youth Services and Sports organised a Provincial Level Inter District Archery competition at SMVD Sports Complex in Katra here today.
The event was held in collaboration with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), saw participants from different districts including Reasi, Kathua,Kishtwar, and Jammu. Earlier, Tarsem Singh, District (DYSS) Officer welcomed the chief guests.
Deepak Dubey, Sub Divisional Magistrate of Katra was the chief guest, Dr Kamal Kishor Dubey was the Guest of Honour, while Abhishek Sharma, the Nodal Officer of SMVD Sports Complex, was the special guest on this occasion.
Chief Guest said Archery, with its roots embedded deep in our ancient history, is not only a display of physical strength and agility but also a testament to the mental fortitude and precision required to hit the target. It is a sport that demands discipline, focus, and the ability to handle pressure.
They said we are fortunate to witness the incredible talent and dedication of archers who have excelled in their respective districts and have now gathered here to compete against one another for the ultimate Provincial Level title.
The results in Boys U14- Recurve – Krishna (Reasi) secured Gold and Harshit (Kathua) Silver. In U-17 Recurve Boys- Jai Vardhan(Jammu) won gold. U-17 Indian Round – Arshit (Jammu) won Gold, Layak (Jammu) won Silver and Rishit (Jammu) won Bronze.
In U-19, Compound Boys- Naksham (Reasi) Gold, Omkara (Reasi) Silver while Indian Round – Pranav (Jammu) gold, Ritik Singh (Kathua) Silver, Gurvinder Roy Kathua(bronze). In girls U-14- Indian Round- Manya (Jammu) gold, Etasha (Jammu) silver, Bhavya (Jammu) bronze. Recurve- Nirbhaya (Gold).
In U-17-Compound competitions Sheetal won gold and Shivani won silver (Kishtwar). In U-19 – Indian Round-Shreya (Kathua), Sonia (Kathua) won Silver and Janvi (Kathua) won bronze. The matches were conducted by the officials of DYSS Reasi Satish Singh (PEL), Devinder Kour, Jasbir Kour, Jaswinder Kour, Anjali Sharma,Pawan Kumar,Sanjeev Kumar, Jugal Kiahor, Harpreet Kour, Rakesh Kumar,Abhilsaha Vedwan (Asstt. Coach SMVD Sports Complex), Kuldeep Raj, Vikas Verma, Balbir Singh,Jaswant Singh, Jyoti Sharma, Mohd. Raiz, Sushil Kumar, Ankush Sharma, Anoop Jyoti, Deep Sharma, Sahil Sharma and Priya Sharma.
