Pratham clinches Men’s singles, Nitya lifts Women’s singles title

JAMMU, Dec 24: The 48th UTT J&K UT Table Tennis Championships 2025 concluded with thrilling matches and standout performances, with Pratham Raina claiming the Men’s Singles title and Nitya Arora lifting the Women’s Singles crown.
In a closely contested Men’s Singles final, Pratham defeated Akash by 3–2. Both players displayed exceptional skill and determination, with Akash putting up a strong challenge. Earlier, Pratham had edged past Maanay by 3–2 in the semifinals, while Akash secured his final berth by defeating Amit Badyal by 3–1. In the Women’s Singles final, Nitya Arora dominated Arushika Dabar, winning convincingly in straight games by 3–0. Meanwhile, in the veteran Men; Amit beat Vipin in the finals.
The five-day championship saw participation from around 230 paddlers across the Union Territory, competing in categories ranging from the youngest to veteran players. Matches were fiercely contested, reviving old rivalries and giving rise to new talent, making this season one of the most exciting in recent years.
The valedictory function was graced by Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to the Chief Minister, as chief guest. Nuzhat Gul, Secretary, J&K Sports Council, attended as guest of honour. Prominent attendees included Satbir Singh, Ajya Sharma, Arshi Nad (Manager, Indoor Sports Complex), Maninder Singh, Salim Bandey, Rajan Sharma, Meenu Rajesh, Vasu Dewan, Narinder Singh, Sheetal Gandotra, NIS coaches Gurvinder Singh and Asad Sharma, Naveen Nischal, along with secretaries from the Bandipora, Pulwama, Kupwara, Shopian and Udhampur District Table Tennis Associations.
