POONCH/SRINAGAR, Dec 17: The District Boxing Championships for Poonch and Srinagar were organised by the J&K Amateur Boxing Association under the aegis of the Boxing Federation of India, J&K Olympic Association and sponsored by the J&K Sports Council. The events concluded at Sports Stadium Poonch and Indoor Sports Complex Bakshi Stadium Srinagar, with medals and certificates awarded to the meritorious boxers.
The Srinagar championship was held under the technical supervision of Khalida Bano, Adil Khan and Farooq Ahmad Khan. SP Srinagar was the chief guest, while Ishaq Ahmad (SHO Sherghari) and Maqsood Ahmad (Manager Bakshi Stadium) were guests of honour.
Notable results from Srinagar include Elite Men’s 50-55 kg category where Azam Ahmad won gold, Suhail Fayaz silver and Shakir Hussain bronze. M. Shamasudin clinched gold in the 60-65 kg category, while Shaniq Shabir took gold in 70-75 kg. In the Youth category, Kafeel Ahmad and Rashid Ahmad secured gold in 55-60 kg and 60-65 kg, respectively. In the Sub-Junior category, Muzmil won gold in 44-46 kg. Junior Girls’ 66-70 kg gold was won by Hoor Wani.
In Poonch, Neeraj Kumar Sharma was the chief guest and praised the athletes for their skills. The Championship was conducted under the guidance of Mushtaq Ahmad, Rohit Kumar and others. The tournaments showcased emerging boxing talent and were successfully organised with full technical support. The Poonch District boxing championships was conducted under the technical support of Mushtaq Ahmad, Rohit Kumar, Abhay Raina, Toyab Ahmad and Mudassar Ahmad.
