POONCH, Dec 3: The Martyrs Premier League Season 3 commenced, at Pritam Stadium, here today in a solemn ceremony dedicated to bravehearts and civilian martyrs of Operation Sindoor.
The event was graced by Additional Superintendent of Police, Mohan Sharma and Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Mohd. Sayeed as chief guests, who encouraged the youth to embrace sports as a path of discipline, fitness and national service.
The proceedings began with the National Anthem followed by a two-minute silence in honour of the martyrs. The guests visited the pitch, met the players, and extended their best wishes, marking the formal start of the tournament. The opening match saw a spirited contest between Khari Star and Arai Star (Mandi), setting an energetic tone for the league.
Organised by Haq Insaaf Council, MPL Season 3 promotes National Integration, Communal Harmony, and campaigns against drug abuse to empower youth. The event reflects the collective resolve of Poonch residents, District Administration, District Police, and the Indian Army to maintain peace, strengthen social harmony and honour the sacrifices of the nation’s heroes while inspiring the next generation.
