SRINAGAR, July 20: Srinagar Police today organized a “Run for Unity” along the banks of the iconic Dal lake under the banner of Police Flag Day Celebrations with overwhelming participation from people of all age groups.
The event was flagged off at 8:30 am from Lalit Ghat by SSP Srinagar, Dr M Haseeb Mughal, and it concluded at the Botanical Garden.
A prize distribution ceremony was held at the Botanical Garden after the run. In his address, SSP Srinagar praised the participants especially the children and highlighting their determination and commitment. “Winning or losing doesn’t matter-what truly counts is the spirit, energy, and enthusiasm you all displayed,” he told participants.
Gulbadin Hikmatyar (19) from Ganderbal secured first place, completing the run in 7 minutes and 32 seconds. Muneer Ahmed Dar (30) from Khanyar, Srinagar, finished second at 7 minutes and 43 seconds, while Umer Farooq Bhat (20) from Hazratbal came third, clocking 7 minutes and 49 seconds.
Senior police officials, including SP Headquarters, Zonal SPs, DySP DAR, DySP Headquarters, SDPOs, and other district officers, also took part in the run.
