RAJOURI, Mar 10: District Police Rajouri organised a volleyball tournament at Government Degree College (GDC) Thannamandi under the Civic Action Programme to promote sports culture among youth and strengthen police-public relations.
The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of the college and created a vibrant atmosphere of healthy competition and sportsmanship. The final match was played between the teams of the 4th Semester and 2nd Semester.
In an exciting contest, the 4th Semester team emerged victorious by defeating the 2nd Semester team with a convincing score of 2-0 sets. The winning team displayed excellent coordination, teamwork and sports spirit throughout the match.
The concluding ceremony was attended by Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Thannamandi Parupkar Singh as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he appreciated the enthusiasm of the participating students and highlighted the importance of sports in channelising the energy of youth in a positive direction. He said sports help in developing discipline, teamwork and a healthy lifestyle.
Speaking on the growing concern of drug abuse among youth, the SDPO urged students to stay away from drugs and other social evils. He said drug abuse not only destroys the future of individuals but also affects families and society.
The winning and runner-up teams were felicitated with trophies and certificates. The college administration and students thanked District Police Rajouri for organising the event and encouraging youth to adopt a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.
