RAJOURI, Nov 19: The District Police Rajouri today held a grand Cricket Sports Event in memory of martyrs Shaheed Mushtaq Ahmed Mir (DySP), Shaheed Nazir Ahmed (SSP) and Shaheed Ghani Sham (DySP), aimed at promoting sportsmanship, youth engagement and community bonding.
The opening ceremony was led by Dr. Amarjeet Singh Bhatia, Principal GMC Rajouri, along with SSP Rajouri Gaurav Sikarwar and Commandant IRP 2nd Battalion Nasir Ahmed. Dr. Bhatia praised the police initiative, highlighting the importance of sports in shaping a disciplined and focused youth and appreciated the efforts of the police in providing constructive platforms for young talent.
SSP Rajouri emphasized that the tournament strengthens police–public relations, channels youth energy positively, and fosters unity, discipline and brotherhood among participants. Commandant Nasir Ahmed congratulated the organizing team and urged players to compete with dedication and true sportsmanship, reaffirming the security forces’ commitment to promoting sports culture in the district.
The inaugural match saw enthusiastic participation from local teams, attracting a large audience of students and sports enthusiasts. District Police Rajouri assured that more such events will continue, supporting youth development, encouraging healthy activities, and fostering social harmony in the region.
