JAMMU, Aug 21: Players of various zones showed promise and composure in the Zonal Level Inter-School Tournaments of Gandhi Nagar, Satwari, Akhnoor, RS Pura, Miran Sahib, Bhalwal and Marh Zones, being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, here.
In a combined venture of RS Pura and Miran Sahib Zones, the District Level Inter-School Tournament was inaugurated by District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma at City Middle School RS Pura.
The Tournament is being conducted under the supervision of Poonam Kotwal, ZPEO Miran Sahib and Chander Kanta, ZPEO R S Pura.
In Volleyball Under-19 boys final, Govt HSS Sai defeated Adarsh Niketan Senior Secondary School, Badyal Brahmana, while in semifinal matches earlier, GHSS Sai outplayed GHSS Chakroi and Adarsh Niketan beat GHSS Dablehar.
Inter-School Tournaments under the age group of 19 years for boys of Akhnoor Zone were held at Govt Boys Higher Secondary School Akhnoor.
The Tournaments were held under the chairmanship of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports and Sukhdev Raj Sharma, DYSSO Jammu. The events were conducted under the supervision of Anju Gupta and Om Prakash Sharma, ZPEO’s Akhnoor and Chouki Choura respectively.
In Kabaddi final, HSS Chouki Choura beat HSS Akhnoor by 2 points (22-20), while in Volleyball final, HSS Akhnoor trounced HSS Chouki Choura by (2-0) sets.
The Zonal Level Inter-School Tournament of Marh and Bhalwal Zones in the disciplines of Kho-Kho, Kabaddi and Volleyball was held under the chairmanship of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu and under the overall supervision of Sukhdev Raj Sharma, DYSSO Jammu at Govt HSS Domana. The event is being organized by Veena Tickoo, ZPEO Bhalwal and Jasbir Singh, ZPEO Marh.
In Kho-Kho girls final, GHSS Domana beat GHSS Bhalwal by (8-4) points, while in Volleyball boys final, GHSS Jhiri defeated APS Domana by (2-0) sets and in Kabaddi boys final, GHSS Gharota drubbed GHSS Ghou Manasan by 5 points.
The matches were officiated by Dinesh Sharma, Hardutt Sharma, Ram Murti, Surinder Singh, Gulbir Singh, Rash Pal, Ram Pal, Pritam Lal, Champki Pandita, Jagjeet Singh, Surinder Pal Singh, Alka Manhas, Tarsem Kumar, Nitin Sethi and Shweta Pandita.

Raj Rani, Headmaster Govt. High School Jammu Cantt was the chief guest, while ZPEOs Sher Singh (Gandhi Nagar Zone) and Kiran Jyoti (Satwari Zone) were present on the occasion.
In Kho- Kho Under-19 boys final, Govt. HSS Mandal beat Govt. HSS Bhour Camp by 6-3 points, while in Volleyball Under-19 boys final, Govt. HSS Sunjwan trounced Govt. HSS Bhour Camp by 2-0 sets (25-10, 25-13) and in Kabaddi Under-19 boys final, Govt. HSS Mandal beat Govt. HSS Bhour Camp by 25-15.
In Wrestling Under-19 boys, -55 K : Prabdayal of Govt. HSS Mandal, 1st; -60 Kg : Shubam Sharma of Govt. HSS Mandal, 1st; -65 Kg : Ravinder Singh of Govt. HSS Mandal,1st and -75 Kg : Ranjeet Singh of Govt. HSS Mandal, 1st.
The matches were officiated by Hardev Singh, Lata Sharma, Popinder Kour, Saleem-ur-Rehman, Vishal, Ravinder and Rajesh Bandral.
