JAMMU, Feb 1: Pinto New Light Academy (PNLA) Sunail, Zone Akhnoor, organized its Annual Day celebration and prize distribution under the chairmanship of Behari Lal Verma, founder member of the school. The event was graced by Vijay Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner (Relief), as the chief guest and Mahesh Pangotra as guest of honour.
The program featured an impressive cultural show by students, highlighting their talent in arts and performance. Babli Davi, in her welcome address, shared the school’s journey since its establishment in 1990 to provide modern education in rural areas. She noted that the school now has a strength of 140 students, with consistent excellence in board examinations.
Top performers in academics were Kamia Bhagat, Cherry Rajput, Kannav Sharma, Harshika Verma and Himani Angural, who secured first positions in 8th class with 91.5% marks in the 2024-25 session. Ridhima Chhibber and others achieved Distinction in 8th class.
Teachers were also honoured, with Gagandeep and Neelam Dogra receiving the Best Teacher Award for their all-round contribution. The chief guest Vijay Kumar Sharma appreciated the students’ performance and co-curricular skills. Balwant Kataria, Principal, assured parents of quality education, sports and holistic development, highlighting facilities such as Wi-Fi, CCTV, and computer training, along with special care for poor and BPL students.
