Physical Education Deptt wins JU’s Inter-Departmental Cricket tourney

JAMMU, June 4: The Physical Education Department emerged as champions of the University of Jammu’s Inter-Departmental Cricket (Men) Tournament 2025–26, defeating the Department of SHTM by 28 runs in an exhilarating final at the University Cricket Ground.
Winning the toss, the Physical Education team elected to bat first and posted an impressive total of 163/4 in 18 overs. Star performer Ankush scored a brilliant 87 off 53 balls, supported by Aryan Bhalwal, who added a steady 55 off 38 balls. For SHTM, Rahul Sharma picked up 2 crucial wickets.
Chasing a target of 164, SHTM displayed commendable fighting spirit but managed only 135/6 in 18 overs. Anirudh Raina top-scored with a valiant 60 off 47 balls, while Ishtiyaq contributed 33 off 26 balls. Physical Education’s Shoib Naik bowled a game-changing spell, taking 2 wickets for 9 runs. Shoaib Malik, Sandy, Jagmohan and Sachin took a wicket each to seal the win.
The tournament was conducted under the leadership of Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Chairman, Campus Sports Committee, and coordinated by Raj Kumar Bakshi, Incharge PTI. Their efforts ensured a smooth, fair, and competitive tournament. The final was officiated by Vijay Kumar, Ashok Singh, Raj Kumar Bakshi, and Anirudh Singh, ensuring professional conduct on the field.
