PG Deptt JU wins Kabaddi title; JU hosts thrilling Inter-Collegiate Sports competitions

JAMMU, Sept 25: The Post Graduate Department of the University of Jammu (JU) clinched the title of the Inter-Collegiate Kabaddi (Women) Tournament 2025–26, organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
The final match, held at the Gymnasium Hall, was a display of sheer determination and skill as PG Department of Jammu University outclassed Government Degree College (GDC) Billawar by a convincing margin of 12 points to lift the championship trophy. Earlier in the day, the semi-final matches set the tone for the high-energy finale. In the first semi-final, GDC Billawar edged past Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur by four points in a closely contested match. The second semi-final saw PG Department of Jammu University overcome GCW Parade by 10 points, securing their place in the final.
The prize distribution ceremony was presided over by Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, who congratulated the winners and lauded all participants for their spirited performances. Several faculty members and officials from affiliated colleges added to the significance of the occasion with their presence, reflecting the University’s strong commitment to promoting a vibrant sports culture.
Simultaneously, the Inter-Collegiate Basketball (Men and Women) Tournament 2025–26, being held at University Basketball Court, continued to capture the enthusiasm of spectators. In the men’s section, GDC Udhampur defeated Dogra Degree College by 43–16, GDC Kathua beat MIET Jammu by 40–19, BDC Udhampur won against GDC Kunjwani by 41–38, PG Department Jammu University triumphed over GDC Udhampur by 51–30 and BDC Udhampur overcame GDC Kathua by 47–21. In the women’s section, GCW Parade beat Dogra Degree College by 18–0, PG Deptt. JU defeated MIET Jammu by 14–2 and GDC Kathua secured a 20–6 win over GCW Parade.
Additionally, the Inter-Collegiate Cricket (Men) Tournament 2025–26 commenced at the University Cricket Ground. GDC Dharmari defeated GDC Jindrah by 9 runs, posting 151/10 in 19.3 overs. GDC Reasi registered a dominant 9-wicket win over MBS College, showcasing their all-round cricketing prowess.
