KISHTWAR, Dec 19: Para-archer and Arjuna awardee Sheetal Devi, who has made India proud in the field of para archery, received a grand welcome upon her arrival in Kishtwar today after a long gap of three years.
Sheetal was greeted by BJP MLA from Kishtwar, Shagun Parihar and other BJP leaders, along with people from various sections of society, at the Sarthal Mata Mandir Modh (a few kilometers before Kishtwar town). From there, a rally was organized to escort her to Kishtwar Chaugan, where she was welcomed by sports enthusiasts, and representatives of business and shopkeeper associations, Bar Association Kishtwar, and other local organizations. They greeted her with garlands and flower showers.
At Chaugan, a program was organized to promote mutual brotherhood, where DC Kishtwar Rajesh Kumar Shawan and MLA Shagun Parihar welcomed Sheetal by presenting her with a memento and a shawl.
Sheetal expressed gratitude and said her identity today is solely because of her passion for sports, which was encouraged by many, especially her family. She emphasized that despite being specially abled, she worked silently and tirelessly, with the results evident in her achievements.
Sheetal also spoke about inspiring specially-abled children, encouraging them not to feel inferior due to their disabilities but to understand that nothing is impossible and they can achieve anything.
While sharing her future goals, Sheetal mentioned that although she has not set a specific target, her ultimate aim is to bring home a gold medal for India in the Olympics. Her parents and other family members joined her during this momentous occasion.
