JAMMU, Feb 21: Making Jammu and Kashmir proud with their outstanding performances in the recently held Senior National Gymnastics Championship, Jammu and Kashmir Gymnastics team, comprising of Palak Kour, Mitali, Nandani Lakhotra and Vandana clinched 5 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.
The Senior National Gymnastics Championship was held in Mohali from February 16 to February 18, 2018 in which Palak Kour bagged 3 gold medals in All Round and Individual Apparatus finals of Ball, Ribbon  and a bronze medal in Hoop event, while Mitali too performed excellent and got Individual gold medal in Hoop event and bronze medal in Club event. Nandani clinched gold and Vandana got silver in Ball event.
This is the highest achievement of J&K Gymnasts in Senior National Gymnastics Championship so far.
Punjab bagged 2nd place in this Championhsip, while Delhi and Maharashtra claimed 3rd and 4th places respectively.
The J&K team brought laurels to the State under the guidance and coaching of Sports Council’s Coaches Krupali Singh and SP Singh who have been working to train these gymnasts at Indoor Sports Complex, Jammu.
Their outstanding performance of these gymnasts has not only been lauded by the Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council but by the entire State as well.
Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra has congratulated the team for keeping the state flag high at the National scene.
It is pertinent to mention here that these gymnasts have the distinction of helping Jammu and Kashmir to carve a space on the country’s sports map.
