JAMMU, Oct 11: Women Study Centre of Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar organized one-day orientation programme on ‘sexual harassment’.
Principal Dr Kiran Bakshi was the chief guest whereas Dr Kavita Suri, Associate Professor, Department of Life Long Learning, University of Jammu and Dr Savita Nayar, Assistant Professor, Department of Law, University of Jammu were the resource persons.
Dr Anjali Bhat, convenor, Women Studies Centre, presented the welcome address after the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by dignitaries. She also deliberated on the sensitive issue of harassment faced by young girls in all walks of life.
Speaking about gender sensitization, Dr Kavita Suri made a power-point presentation focusing upon the vicious cycle of sexual harassment.
Dr Savita Nayar also pin pointed on the ‘legal aspects of sexual harassment’ and acquainted them about the constitutional safeguards regarding the women protection against any kind of sexual harassment.
Dr Kiran Bakshi while speaking on the topic, urged the girls to use these laws judiciously for particular cause on right occasion without under provocation, instigation, revenge or fame.
