JAMMU, Nov 13: Jammu and Kashmir achieved remarkable success in the 68th National School Games held in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh, with athletes clinching two medals in the Taekwondo U-14 and U-17 Boys and Girls Championship.
Mohd Hadie from Baramulla won the Silver medal in the U-17 Boys -73 kg category, while Nasir ul Islam from Budgam secured the Bronze medal in the U-17 Boys -59 kg category. These victories have added to Jammu and Kashmir’s growing prominence in the national sports arena.
In addition to the medal winners, 12 other athletes from Jammu and Kashmir made it to the quarterfinals of their respective events. However, they lost in their quarterfinal bouts, thus missing out on medal opportunities. Despite this, their performance was commendable and showcased the rising talent from the region. Director General of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), Rajinder Singh Tara, congratulated the medal winners while commending their outstanding performance.
