JAMMU, Dec 15: The second day of the POWERGRID Inter-Regional Cricket Tournament 2024 was filled with intense action as 10 teams clashed across three grounds. The matches showcased exceptional skills, with players putting up impressive performances to secure victories for their teams.
Northern Region-II (NR-II) emerged as the first team to reach the semi-finals, defeating North Eastern Region (NER) by 3 wickets. Batting first, NER scored 87/9 in their 20 overs. NR-II chased down the target in just 15.2 overs, with Vinod Atri of NR-II claiming 4 wickets for 21 runs in 4 overs, earning the Man of the Match award.
In another thrilling encounter, Northern Region-III (NR-III) triumphed over Western Region-I (WR-I) by 37 runs. NR-III posted 159/6 in their 20 overs, and despite WR-I’s fight, they were restricted to 122/8 in their reply. Md Kaif of NR-III, who scored 71 runs and took 1 wicket for 8 runs in 2 overs, was named Man of the Match.
Central Circle (CC) handed Southern Region-II (SR-II) a 75-run defeat. CC set a target of 159/4 in 20 overs, and SR-II could only manage 83 runs in 18.3 overs. Mukesh Bhakar of CC, with a remarkable 4-wicket haul, was declared Man of the Match.
Northern Region-I (NR-I) defeated Eastern Region-I (ER-I) by 40 runs. NR-I scored 167/7 in 20 overs, and ER-I fell short, scoring 127/7 in their 20 overs. Kuldeep Rawat of NR-I, who contributed 14 runs off 6 balls and took 3 wickets, was awarded Man of the Match.
Eastern Region-II (ER-II) also secured a win, defeating Southern Region-I (SR-I) by 16 runs. Batting first, ER-II posted 118/9 in 20 overs, and SR-I could only manage 102 runs in 18.3 overs. Pradip Rajak of ER-II, with a 3-wicket haul, was named Man of the Match.
