JAMMU, Dec 1: It was a day filled with action as 10 teams clashed on the second day of the POWERGRID Inter Regional Cricket Tournament 2015, here.
All the teams performed to best of their abilities to outclass each other. It was a day where players showcased their style and skill to get better off their opponents, with NR-I emerging the first team to enter into the semifinals.
Earlier, POSOCO defeated NR-II by 43 runs. Batting first, POSOCO scored 161 for 3wickets in their stipulated 20 overs. In reply, NR-II managed to score 117 for 9 in their 20 overs.Gopal Krishnan of POSOCO who scored 52 not out was declared as man of the match.
In the second match, WR-II defeated SR-II by 5 wickets. Batting first, SR-II was bundled out for 97 runs. WR-II chased the score in 18.4 overs losing 5 wickets in the process. Rajesh Chourasia of WR-II who scored 60 runs and took 2 wickets by conceding 5 runs was declared as man of the match.
In another match, CC trounced SR-I by 131 runs. Batting first, CC scored 211 for 7 wickets in 20 overs. SR-I was bundled out for 80 runs in 18.1 overs. Mahesh Pruthi of CC who scored 14 runs and took 4wickets and 2 catches was declared as man of the match.
In the fourth match of the day, NER defeated ER-I by 3 runs. Batting first, NER scored 157 in 20 overs. ER-I in return managed only 154 in their 20 overs. Kumar Chetri of NER who scored 39 runs and took 1wicket was declared as man of the match.
In the fifth match, NR-I defeated ER-II in an easy contest to emerge as the first team to enter into semifinals. Batting first, ER-II got bundled out for 79 runs in 18 overs. In return, NR-I easily surpassed the target in 10.2 overs. Sunder of NR-I was declared as man of the match for his innings of 31 runs.
