SRINAGAR, Dec 15: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar emerged victorious in the All-India Inter-NIT Faculty & Staff Cricket Tournament 2025, defeating NIT Hamirpur by 10 runs in a thrilling final at the MANIT Sports Complex, Bhopal, clinching the title for the third time.
Winning the toss, NIT Srinagar posted 129/9 in 15 overs, led by contributions from Faisal Irshad and Dr Pankaj Kumar (22 runs each), Shahid Hamid (19) and Sohail Ahmad Baba (16). In reply, NIT Hamirpur managed 119/7, with Neeraj Dhiman (49), Aman Kumar (26), and Surender Kumar Soni (16) fighting hard. Disciplined bowling by Tanveer Hussain (2 wickets), Mudasir Qadir and Shahid Hamid proved decisive, with Hussain named Man of the Match.
Dr. Syed Mohsin Shabir played a key role throughout the tournament with incisive bowling, maintaining pressure and consistency. Earlier, NIT Srinagar defeated NIT Andhra Pradesh (105 runs) and NIT Kurukshetra (63 runs) in league matches, and overcame VNIT Nagpur in a Super Over in the quarterfinals before defeating NIT Jalandhar in the semifinals.
The 15-member squad, captained by Dr. Shakeel Waseem, included Faisal Irshad Ganai, Sohail Baba, Dr. Tanveer Rasool, Dr. Malik Parvaiz, Dr. Manoj Kumar, Dr. Pankaj Kumar, Dr. Ved Prakash, Dr. Syed Mohsin Shabir, Shahid Hamid, Basarat Bashir, Aaqib Jan, Tanveer Hussain, Towheed Hussain, and Mudasir Qadir.
The trophy was presented by Prof. Karunesh Kumar Shukla (Director, MANIT) and Dr. Alka Bharat (Dean, Faculty Welfare), who lauded NIT Srinagar’s consistent performance, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
