SRINAGAR, Feb 7: A student of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar has secured second place at the All India Inter NIT Chess and Athletics Tournament held at NIT Jalandhar.
Satinder Singh finished second on Board 1, competing against top players from NITs across the country.
Director NIT Srinagar, Prof Binod Kumar Kanaujia, said the achievement reflects the institute’s emphasis on promoting sports alongside academics. Incharge Registrar Prof Atikur Rehman and Dean Students Welfare (DSW), Prof Abid Bazaz, also praised the performance and encouraged students to participate in national-level competitions.
The NIT Srinagar team was supported by Sohail Ahmad Baba and Mohammad Subhan from the SAS Centre staff. Dr Manoj Kumar, In-charge Faculty, Sports and Athletics Section and SAS Officer Kowsar Ali Mir appreciated Satinder Singh’s accomplishment and reiterated the institute’s commitment to fostering a vibrant sports culture, providing better facilities and training for aspiring athletes.
