SRINAGAR, Aug 19: Director General (DG) of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), Lieutenant General Gurinder Pal Singh, today interacted with cadets in Baramulla and presented awards to those who assisted people during Operation Sindoor.
Speaking to reporters after honouring the cadets, Singh said, “The youth of Baramulla have always shown a strong sense of patriotism. Those who join the NCC have consistently stayed away from any untoward activities.”
Calling the cadets “equal to soldiers,” Singh added, “I feel proud of you all. The way you performed during Operation Sindoor reflects your courage and discipline. The NCC stands with you in every step of your life.”
The DG said that Baramulla units performed exceptionally well by participating in civil defence and community services. “Overall, I am happy with their performance. The cadets are overwhelmingly participating in adventure and community activities and this is the reason there is a growing demand for the NCC,” he said.
At the event, students who represented India in Taekwondo at national and international levels were also recognized.
Sharing her experience, cadet Sofia Sajjad recalled that an evacuation centre was established at Government Women’s College Baramulla, where food and blankets were distributed to affected residents.
