NEW DELHI, June 5: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) Mount Everest Expedition team received a grand welcome at the DGNCC Camp, New Delhi, after successfully summiting Mount Everest. The 10-member team, comprising five boys and five girls, achieved a 100% summit success rate, showcasing courage, discipline and resilience in extreme conditions.
Flagged off by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the cadets underwent intense training, including a preparatory climb of Mt. Abi Gamin and winter conditioning at the Army Mountaineering Institute, Siachen.
The cadets who reached the summit are Monika (Rajasthan), Pratima Rai (West Bengal), Rifiness Warjri (Meghalaya), Kritika Sharma (Himachal Pradesh), Abida Afreen (Ladakh), Mohit Knathia (J&K), Padma Namgail (Chandigarh), Virendra Singh Samant, Sachin Kumar and Mukul Bangwal (all from Uttarakhand).
The youngest climber was just 16 years old. Their feat marks the third successful NCC Everest expedition, following earlier missions in 2013 and 2016.
