JAMMU, Dec 29: In a commanding batting performance on day one of the Vijay Merchant Trophy (Under-16), Jammu & Kashmir posted a massive 477 for 5 against Nagaland at the Kholvad Gymkhana Ground, Surat. The strong total sets J&K up for a dominant position in the Plate group contest of the national U16 championship.
The innings was powered by an exceptional knock from Arsalan Nayak, who scored 215 off 213 balls with 21 fours and five sixes, anchoring the team’s substantial total. He was well supported by Harinder Singh, who scored 135 off 175 balls, cementing the backbone of the innings.
Contributions also came from Karman Singh (31 off 58) and Smagey Khajuria (27 off 49), while Hadi Amin remained unbeaten on 40 off 37 balls with three fours and a six. Jaskaran Singh finished not out with 4 runs after 90 overs. Nagaland’s bowlers were put under pressure throughout as the J&K batting lineup showcased depth and resilience against the attack.ophy
