National Softball Umpiring Clinic commences

SRINAGAR, July 29: The National Softball Umpiring Clinic 2025-26 was inaugurated at Bakshi Stadium, here today. The three-day event, organised jointly by the J&K Sports Council, Softball Association of India and J&K Softball Association.
Sarmad Hafeez, Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department declared the clinic open, predicting that softball will emerge as one of the top sports in Jammu & Kashmir. The opening ceremony was also graced by Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of J&K Sports Council; Dr. Pravin Anaokar, Secretary General of the Softball Federation of India and Nusrat Gazala, Divisional Sports Officer.
Over 150 umpires from across India are participating, receiving training from national and international instructors. The clinic aims to uplift umpiring quality, ensuring fair play and professionalism at all levels. Hafeez praised the Sports Council’s efforts to promote softball even in rural regions and applauded Waseem Raja, Secretary of the J&K Softball Association, for his dedication to the sport’s growth.
