National Sambo Championship commences today

JAMMU, Oct 25:  Jammu and Kashmir will hold the first-ever Senior National Sambo Championship, a form of Russian martial arts, for both men and women at city’s M A Stadium starting tomorrow.
As many as 250 participants from across 13 states of the country will vie for top honours at the three-day long championship, general secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Sambo Association, Rameshwar Singh Jamwal, told reporters here.
This is for the first time that such a championship is being organised in Jammu and Kashmir, he added.
J&K has selected an 11-member team, including four women fighters, to be a part of the event, Jamwal informed.
Fazloo Din Plato, president Asian Sambo Federation and vice president of International Amateur Sambo Federation, is expected to attend championship, Jamwal added.
