POONCH, Nov 26: The Nangi Tekri Battalion, under the aegis of Krishna Ghati Brigade, has unveiled the inaugural season of highly anticipated Krishna Ghati Premier League (KGPL) 2024-2025.
Touted as a mega cricketing event, the League promises to be a landmark tournament in J&K with cash prizes worth Rs 8 lakh to be won.
The tournament will feature 32 teams from Poonch, Surankote and Rajouri, divided into eight groups of four teams each.
The matches will be conducted on knockout basis, culminating in the grand finale on Vijay Diwas (December 16, 2024). The date holds historical significance as a tribute to the supreme sacrifices made by the locals of Jhallas during the capture of Nangi Tekri from the Pakistan army in the 1971 war.
Adding to the excitement, the League will witness the participation of few IPL players, enhancing its competitive spirit.
War veterans will grace the closing ceremony to distribute the prizes, making the event a blend of sportsmanship and patriotism.
