JAMMU, Aug 4: Member of Parliament, Ch Lal Singh felicitated the children of Career Abacus Academy, a leading Abacus teaching Institute, for displaying skills and presenting demo of calculations, in a function organized by the Institution at Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, here today.
The children displayed their skill by calculating sums even faster than the calculators and with total accuracy.
The demo was conducted by Mamta Anand, Chief Course Instructor of the Institute, while Arvind Sharma, Director of the Institute explained the benefits of the Abacus to the audience and stressed upon the need to teach the skill to all the students in the age group of 5 to 13 years. He said that abacus not only helps in improving the arithmetical skills but also improves the memory, listening skills, imagination, creativity, self reliance and the confidence.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr Nalini Kohli, Dr Kiran Bakshi, Principal Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar and Dr Hemla Aggarwal, Principal, Government College for Women, Parade, Jammu.
