JAMMU, Nov 29: Model Academy here today celebrated its 89th Annual Day with great enthusiasm.
This year’s celebration showcased students’ achievements and reflected the school’s 89-year journey of growth, discipline, creativity and aspiration.
The chief guest on this occasion was Dr. Arun Kumar Manhas, Director of Industries and Commerce, Jammu, and a distinguished alumnus of Model Academy.
Other esteemed dignitaries included Dr. Renu Gupta, Chairperson of MIER, Dr. Adit Gupta, Director of MIER, Rupa Gupta and Ruchika Gupta, Joint Directors of MIER, Pramod Kumar Srivastava, Principal, J.K Dhiman, Vice Principal, academic managers from various wings of the school, members of the IQAC team, Controller of Examinations, Heads of the MIER College of Education and a range of teaching and non-teaching staff from the school and college, along with parents of student achievers.
The programme began with the arrival of the chief guest, followed by a Guard of Honour by NCC cadets, the Students Council and Scouts and Guides. This was followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest and dignitaries.
Dr. Adit Gupta, Director of MIER, delivered welcome speech. He also highlighted the school’s leadership in STEM and AI-enabled learning, participation in national platforms and ongoing commitment to inclusive education.
In line with the theme ‘Ignite-89 Udaan: Sapne • Sankalp • Safalta’, the audience experienced a vibrant cultural extravaganza. Performances included Ganesh Vandana, Sitare Zameen Par, Nanhe Sitaron Ki Matargashti, Apni Duniya, Apna School, Bonjour Beats (French Dance), the inspiring theme dance ‘Chak De India – Nai Udaan’, a soulful rendition of folk songs of J&K and energetic grand finale ‘London to Ludhiana- One Beat, One Vibe’.
The chief guest urged the students to dream big, turn aspirations into a firm resolve and work persistently to achieve success in life.
A notable highlight of the event was the launch of the school newsletter ‘Model Mirror’ by the chief guest, followed by the felicitation of outstanding student achievers in academics, sports, NCC and co-curricular activities by the chief guest and members of the management.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Rupa Gupta, Joint Director of MIER. The smooth running of the programme was supported by compeers Aditya Rania and Nandika of Class 11, along with co-curricular team comprising Manju Vali, Swati Gupta, Nitika Sharma, Neetu Bhardwaj and Samta Dogra.
