SRINAGAR, Aug 31: Azhar Majid Mir and Tahir Wani clinched the Four Ball Greensome Tournament 2025 at the Royal Springs Golf Course (RSGC) today after edging past Umer Yaqoob Mir and Arsalaan Rah in a sudden-death playoff.
A spokesperson said the championship match went the full 18 holes before being decided on the playoff, where Mir and Wani held their nerve to deliver the decisive performance that sealed the title.
The tournament, held in a match play knockout format, unfolded over five competitive rounds and featured 56 of the club’s top golfers. A total of 27 matches were contested. Many of those encounters were hard-fought, with several extending into extra holes and being settled in sudden-death playoffs, “a testament to the high level of skill and sportsmanship on display,” the spokesperson said.
He said that the Four Ball Greensome format requires both players on a team to tee off, after which the better of the two drives is selected. From there, players take alternate shots until the hole is completed. “The format combines elements of Four Ball and Foursomes, blending strategy in drive selection with teamwork in alternate play,” he said.
The RSGC secretary and the Tournament Committee congratulated the winners, praising their “exceptional teamwork, consistency, and competitive spirit.” They also thanked all participants for their enthusiasm and camaraderie, which they said made the event “a truly memorable chapter in RSGC’s golfing calendar.”
