JAMMU, Dec 10: Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, has instructed the Heads of Departments (HoDs) of Youth Services and Sports to form committees dedicated to welcoming and honouring Jammu and Kashmir’s medal-winning athletes and teams upon their return from national and international tournaments.
In a circular issued, Sharma emphasized that the initiative aims to inspire athletes to continue excelling in their respective sports. The Government also aims to publicly recognize and celebrate their achievements, encouraging others to pursue sports. Felicitation ceremonies will be organized at various points of entry, including railway stations, airports and bus stands, wherever possible.
The Sports Minister’s directive reflects the Government’s commitment to recognizing the hard work and achievements of local sportspersons. By offering such public recognition, the Government seeks to motivate athletes and further promote sports culture in Jammu and Kashmir.
