MIET organizes ‘Sarvajana AI 2026’ summit

JAMMU, Feb 14: Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), Jammu organized Sarvajana AI 2026 – Empowering the Next Billion through Education at HL Gupta Auditorium today. The summit brought together academic leaders, industry experts, and educators to explore the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in education and society.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director MIET, who emphasized the institution’s vision of positioning education as a catalyst for AI-driven societal transformation.
Deepak Gupta, Director, Professional Services at Coursera, delivered the opening keynote, emphasizing the rapid acceleration of technology adoption and the urgent need to scale AI-enabled education. Highlighting global workforce trends, he noted that a significant portion of key skills in India will evolve within the next five years, underscoring the importance of hyper-personalized and skills-first learning models.
Prof. Adit Gupta, Director, MIER Group of Institutions, presented an innovative research-driven framework titled AI Interaction Knowledge (AIK), focusing on competencies required for effective AI integration in higher education. He emphasized that the real challenge lies not in awareness of AI but in developing interaction competencies such as prompt design, iterative refinement, and critical evaluation of AI-generated content.
Rahul Hakeem, Partner (Advisory) at KPMG, highlighted the evolving role of AI in education and enterprise transformation. He discussed how AI is reshaping cognition, decision-making, and learning processes, while cautioning against over-reliance that could lead to reduced deep thinking and cognitive offloading.
Sidharth Mahotra, Principal AI Strategist and Machine Learning Leader, addressed advancements in generative AI, healthcare AI, and enterprise-scale intelligent systems. Drawing on his extensive experience across global organizations, he emphasized the growing importance of responsible AI governance, interdisciplinary innovation, and the development of GenAI Centers of Excellence to drive meaningful societal impact.
Following the keynote sessions, a dynamic panel discussion titled “Leaders’ Circle,” moderated by Prof. Ajay Khajuria, Professor of Practice at MIET, explored themes including AI-first learning ecosystems, ethical adoption of AI technologies, bridging the AI skills gap, and the future of generative intelligence, fostering meaningful dialogue between academia and industry. The event witnessed participation from senior faculty members, school principals, educators, and students, reflecting a strong collaborative spirit in advancing AI-driven education.
