JAMMU, Mar 20: The Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) hosted “Innovation 2024,” a significant event dedicated to fostering grassroots innovation.
Padma Shri Prof. Anil Kumar Gupta, former Professor IIM Ahmedabad and the pioneer behind the Honey Bee Network was the Chief Guest of the event. Dr Anamika Dey, CEO, Grassroots Innovation Augmentation Network (GIAN) and Dr Shahnawaz from Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Language (JKAACL) were the guests of honour.
Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director MIET, extended a warm welcome to the chief guest, acknowledging him as a legendary figure in fostering India’s innovation culture. He reaffirmed MIET’s dedication to innovation, ensuring students and faculty of the institution’s continued growth as a leading innovation hub. The theme of the events was centered around grassroots innovation, prominently featured through a compelling workshop by Prof. Anil Gupta titled “Unseen Riches,” focusing on local innovations from Jammu and Kashmir. He inspired students to solve real-world problems and pursue commercialization of their innovative solutions.
The institution also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MIET and the Honey Bee Network through GIAN, aimed at establishing a ‘100 Bee Innovation Club’ at MIET. This partnership will assist the institution in student exchange programs, joint projects, internships, and faculty exchange programs, strengthening MIET’s commitment to becoming an innovation hub in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
The event was sponsored by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Language, which enriched the occasion with breathtaking performances representing the region’s diverse cultural heritage.
Babar Afzal, Chief Innovation Officer, MIET delivered the vote of thanks, highlighting the collaborative spirit and intellectual insights shared during the event. The other senior dignitaries presented during the event included Prof. S.K Sharma, Ajay Khajuria and Prof. Sahil Sawhney.
