MIER holds extension lecture

JAMMU, Nov 24: An extension lecture on the Topic “Education and Women Empowerment” was organized by SSGCWS for the students and staff members of all the wings of MIER.
Dr Deepshikha Kotwal former Director Centre for Women Studies University of Jammu was the resource person for the programme.
At the beginning of the programme Wall Magazine which is a regular feature of the Centre was inaugurated by Dr Deepshikha Kotwal on the Topic “Education as a tool for Empowerment”.
Dr Renu Gupta formally welcomed Dr Deepshikha Kotwal and said that she is an appropriate choice for discussion on the said topic.
Dr Deepshikha elaborated broadly upon four major areas namely what is a woman, what is empowerment, what is education; what is feminism; what do women want today and has education provided it.
She talked at length about the three seminal things- ‘woman’ which is no longer ‘woe-man’ but ‘womyn’ i.e. independent and autonomous.
A lively interaction followed in which the participants very enthusiastically shared their view points.
