JAMMU, Mar 19: A sensitization programme on waste segregation was organized by the Environment Unit of MIER College of Education in collaboration with the Jammu Municipal Corporation. The initiative aimed to raise awareness among students and support staff about proper waste management practices.
The session focused on the importance of separating biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste at the source. It was conducted by Anoop Sharma, Sanitary Inspector, along with members of the Swaha Team-Divya, Sahil and Reetik-who demonstrated practical methods of waste segregation and actively engaged participants.
Attendees were guided to dispose of wet and dry waste in separate bins, reinforcing the importance of individual responsibility in maintaining cleanliness and promoting environmental sustainability.
The programme was attended by faculty members including Prof Nishta Rana, Prof Monika Bajaj and the IQAC team, who appreciated the initiative. Dr Suman Gupta, Incharge of the Environment Unit, coordinated the event and emphasized the need for such programmes to instill environmentally responsible habits.
Prof Adit Gupta, Principal of the college, lauded the efforts and highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring a clean and healthy environment.
