JAMMU, Sept 20: The Environment Unit of MIER College of Education, in collaboration with the Department of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing, Government of J&K, organized a symposium on the theme “Scientific Discoveries and Global Actions for Ozone Layer Protection.”
The event began with a welcome address by Dr. Monika Bajaj, Head, School of Social Sciences and Humanities. Dr. Rajan Singh, SFSESC/ Coordinator, EIACP, Department of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing, J&K, was the chief guest and keynote speaker. He spoke about global initiatives and scientific advances in ozone conservation.
Fifteen students from MIER College participated, presenting innovative ideas. The panel of judges-Anil Sharma (Range Officer, EIACP), Dr. Kirti Joshi (Programme Officer, EIACP) and Prof. Nishta Rana (Head, School of Education, MIER)-evaluated the presentations.
Aditi Mahajan (B.A Hons. Psychology, Sem VII) won First Position; Unmesh Kant Singh (B.A Hons. Political Science, Sem V) secured Second and Ananya (B.A Hons. Psychology, Sem VII) stood Third. Results were announced by Dr. Bharti Tandon, Deputy Head, SoE.
Prof. Adit Gupta, Principal & Director and Rupa Gupta, Joint Director, presented mementos to the guests. The event was compared by Ishika Bali and coordinated by Suman Gupta and Jasleen Kour from the Environment Unit.
