MIER College of Education organises Orientation Programme on Cyber Frauds

JAMMU, Aug 29: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of MIER College of Education organized an Orientation Programme on Cyber Frauds for the non-teaching staff. The session aimed to raise awareness about cybercrimes and equip staff with preventive measures against threats like phishing, identity theft and online scams.
Inspector Gagandeep Singh from the Cyber Police Station was the resource person. He delivered an informative session covering various cyber frauds such as fake loan offers, OTP scams and social media impersonation. Using real-life case studies, he explained the tactics used by fraudsters and stressed the importance of cyber hygiene, including password safety, link verification, and timely reporting of suspicious activity.
The programme began with a welcome address by Jasleen Mohial, Coordinator IQAC, who emphasized the session’s relevance. The event was attended by Dr. Renu Gupta, Chairperson MIER, Rupa Gupta, Joint Director and Dr. Adit Gupta, Principal, who appreciated the initiative. The session was well-received and enriched participants’ understanding of digital safety.
