SAMBA, May 13: Media XI registered 6 wickets win over Police XI in a friendly cricket match organised by District Police Samba at Tali Ground near Mansar Morh.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Police-XI set a target of 78 runs in 12 overs for its opponent Media-XI team. Skipper of Police XI team Additional SP Samba and SHO Samba made 28 and 13 runs respectively. Varinder Singh, DySP Headquarters Samba, Kulbir Handa SDPO Bari Brahmana, Neeraj Kumar, DySP Operations Samba, Inspector Sanjeev Chib, SHO Police Station Samba, Inspector Yashpal Singh Jamwal, SHO Police Station also played from the side of Police-XI.
Chasing the target, Media-XI won the match with 6 wickets. Ajay Singh, skipper of Media XI was the top scorer with 29 runs, while Gautam Gupta made 17 runs.
On the occasion, Davinder Maniyal, MLA Samba was the chief guest, who presented the title trophy to Media XI team in presence of Yash Pal Kundal, Ex-MLA Samba, who was guest of honour and SSP Samba Jatinder Singh.
In his address, Davinder Maniyal, MLA Samba said that this initiative will prove fruitful in channelizing the energy of the youth towards constructive activities.
People from all walks of life which included Sarpanches, Panches, retired personnel and prominent persons also witnessed the match.
