DODA, Dec 23: Masud Bhaderwah trounced Green Shaheen Doda by 41 runs in a thrilling contest and lifted the T20 Christmas Celebrations Cup, organised by Doda Police Headquarter under the guidance of Dr Sunil Gupta, DIG DKR at Cricket Stadium, here today.
Rajesh Gill, former Ranji player and Apex Council Member of JKCA was the coordinator, whereas Fr. Rupak, DySP Showkat Ali, DySP Jaswant Singh, Arun Sharma SHO, Amir Karim Wani and Yasir Ali were among the members of the organising committee.
The 18 teams participated in the tournament, which was sponsored by St. George Convent School Batote, Presentation Convent School Reasi, HolyTrinity Convent School Dansal, Little Flower Convent School Udhampur and Doda Police.
Abdul Qayoom, SSP Doda was the chief guest in the closing function who distributed the trophies and cash award of Rs 10000 to winning team and Rs 5000 to the runner team in the presence of Fr. Victor, Fr. Rupak, Sr.Vanasa, Rajesh Gill and DySP Showkat Baig.
In his address, SSP Doda said that the J&K Police is committed to involve the youths in sports activities, so that they may not derail from the main stream and to provide them professional platform.
He also complimented the organizing committee for conducting exhibition cricket match for the Doda girls for the first time at here with the objective to promote girls in the game of cricket.
Fr. Victor was the guest of honour and said that love, joy and peace are the basic ingredients of Christmas celebrations so we should share love and joy with each other.
In the exhibition match, Doda Queens defeated Doda Angels by 13 runs. Batting first, Doda Queens scored 66 runs by losing 3 wickets in the allotted 10 overs wherein Himanshi scored 34 runs, Monika Rana, Reyanshu and Muskan contributed 12, 11 and 9 runs respectively. From the bowling side Aradhya and Priyanshi Rani took 1 wicket each.
In reply, Doda Angels could not chase the target and managed to score 53 runs for the loss of 5 wickets thus lost the match by 13 runs. Priyanshi Rani made 22 runs, Komal Manhas and Komal Sharma contributed 13 and 9 runs. From the bowling side Muskan took 3 wickets, while Rehanshu and Himanshi got 1 wicket each. Himanshi was declared as woman of the match.
Earlier, in the summit clash, Masud Bhaderwah scored 211 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 18 overs. Adil Wani top scored with 97 runs, while Mehran Ganie made 36 runs and Danish contributed 16 runs to the total. From bowling side, Saddat Shah and Nasir Ali took 2 wickets each while Sahil claimed 1 wicket.
In reply, Green Shaheen Doda managed to score 170 runs for the loss of 8 wickets and lost the match by 41 runs. Irfan made 43 runs, while Amir Wani (39) and Yawar Khan (20) were the other contributors for their team. From the bowlding side, Khalid took 3 wickets, while Adil took 2 wickets and Rinku and Owais claimed 1 wicket each.
Adil Wani was adjudged as man of the match, while Rinku declared best bowler and Adil Wani was declared as best batsman as well as man of the series award.
The matches were officiated by Sourav Katoch, Imran Kalal, Sagar Ittu, Yasir Dar, Nousher Bhat, Ajay Katoch and Babar Lone.
