KATHUA, July12: The 2nd Annual Katli Vishal Dangal 2014, organized by Dangal Committee was held in tehsil Billawar.
Minister of State for Fisheries, Cooperatives, Finance and Planning, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion, who felicitated the winners on the occasion.
The first main bout (1st Maali) was fought between wrestler, Mohd Hafeez of Lohai and wrestler Bubby of Pathankot which was won by the former. He was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 7, 000.
The 2nd bout was won by Tilak Raj of Machhedi who defeated wrestler Tara of Pathankot and was awarded Rs 3100 as cash prize.
Over 40 bouts were played in day-long wrestling competition in which wrestlers from outside the State also participated.
X-En PMGSY, ZEO Malhar, TSO Billawar, DFO, SHO Malhar, Sarpanchs of Upaar and Lower Baggan, Marhoon and large number of people were also present on the occasion.
Dr Manohar Lal Sharma while felicitating the winners impressed upon them to participate in the national and international level wrestling competitions to bring laurels to the State.
He said wrestlers of Billawar, Bani and Basohli tehsils have immense wrestling talent and they should participate in mega wrestling events organized across the State by the Wrestling Association.
Earlier, Dr Sharma also held a grievance camp at Katli and listened to the problems of people and passed directions to the concerned officers and field functionaries to look into the projected issues of the people and take appropriate action.
