Manjyot adjudged best in inter-college symposium

UDHAMPUR, Sept 17: Manjyot Kour from Govt Degree College, Kathua was adjudged best speaker in inter-college symposium  on “Ozone Layer Depletion, Present Status And Its Impact With Special Reference To India”  organized by Department of Botany of Govt. Degree College Udhampur in collaboration with  State Council of Science and Technology Udhampur unit in the college here today.
As many as, 14 teams from different colleges participated in the symposium.
Ishtiaq Ahmed from MAM College Jammu got the second position whereas Pankaj Sharma from GDC Udhampur clinched the third position. Besides, Taniya Kapoor of GDC Samba and Sahil Mehta of MAM College Jammu were  given consolation prizes.
Senior Superintendent of Police Udhampur, Mr. Ashkoor Ahmed Wani was the chief guest on the occasion.
Wani appreciated the efforts of the organizers for organizing such activities which will greatly help spread awareness among the students. The important topic chosen by the college indicates its keenness to contribute towards environmental awareness.
Earlier,  Principal of the College Dr. Nutan Kumar Resutra expressed gratitude to all the Principals of the participating colleges for their cooperation in making this programme a great success.
Meanwhile, an intra-college essay writing competition on the same topic was organized in which ten students of the college participated.
Pooja Mahajan ,Shilpa Katoch & Priyanka Parihar were declared the first, second and third  winners and were given  cash prizes of Rs 300/, Rs 200 and Rs 150 -respectively.
Prof. Subash Samyal, Prof. Sudhir Singh and Prof. Suresh Dogra comprised the Jury. HOD Sericulture, Prof. G.R Verma coordinated the programme.
