JAMMU, Dec 29: MAM College emerged victorious in both the Men’s and Women’s Intercollegiate Handball Championship organized at the playgrounds of Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The event saw enthusiastic participation from various constituent colleges of the Cluster University of Jammu, reflecting strong sportsmanship and competitive spirit.
Dr Vinod Bakshi, Director, Physical Education & Sports, Cluster University of Jammu, graced the occasion as chief guest and lauded the efforts of organizers and players, emphasizing the role of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and overall personality development.
In the Men’s category, MAM College defeated SPMR College of Commerce by 8-3 in the first match and GGM Science College by 9-3 in the final to lift the trophy. In the Women’s section, MAM College overcame GCW Gandhi Nagar by 9-3 in the final, after the latter had defeated SPMR College by 6-4 in the opening match.
The Championship was conducted smoothly under experienced officials, with medals distributed among winners and runners-up, highlighting the university’s commitment to promoting sports and youth development.
