Maharashtra wins overall Championship, J&K emerges runners-up

JAMMU, Sept 25: Maharashtra emerges overall champion, while J&K remained 1st runners-up in the 12th Sub Junior National Jump Rope Championship, which concluded at Indoor Complex MA Stadium, here today.

Delhi and Karnataka were the joint winners of third place.

Eighty players from J&K took part in the Championship and claimed 20 medals.

Around 350 participants drawn from 15 States/Union Territories of the Country participated in the Championship to vie for the top honours.

The 2-day Championship was inaugurated by Ranjeet Kalra, member BCCI and J&K State Sports Council yesterday, while the Championship was declared closed by Harnam Singh, chief patron, Jump Rope Association of J&K today.

Prominent among others present on the occasion were Sunita Joshi, general secretary, Jump Rope Federation of India (JRFI) and  Mohd Arshad, technical director JRFI.

The Championship was organized under the overall supervision of Dr Seema Manhas, general secretary Jump Rope Association of J&K, technical director of the Association, PS Manhas, president Parshotam Kumar and vice president Vivek Anand.

Players from various States displayed extraordinary skill and showed promise to vie for the top honours.

Finally, the winners were presented trophies and medals by Harman Singh and Parshotam Singh in the valedictory function. General secretaries and officials of various States were also presented mementoes by the organizers.
