Learning new skills ease mental tension of studies: Priya Sethi

JAMMU, June 28: Underscoring on the role of extracurricular activities, Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture Priya Sethi said that the students should involve themselves in activities which promote camaraderie, adding that learning new skills like music and singing help in easing mental tension of studies.
Minister said this during valedictory function of the Arvind’s Lets Learn programme at Katra, where she was chief guest. Senior BJP leader Yudhvir Sethi was guest of honour on the occasion.
A number of students of different educational institutions of Katra participated in the programme, in which they went through to learn different activities like singing, dancing, English speaking course, martial arts and acting.
Minister added that the school teachers should also organise such programmes and extra attention needs to be paid to develop extra skills among students in the schools.
“Government is committed to provide quality education in the schools and all efforts are being made to equip the schools with needed human resources and infrastructure”, she added.
While speaking, Yudhvir called upon the parents to motivate their children for learning new skills along with studies.
Harsh, Chandan, Sanjeev Dewan and Sheetal were the instructors during the programme and the show was conducted by Anupam Sharma.
Among others present were Arvind Sharma, Managing Director, Ajay Singh, Director, Pankaj Khajuria, SDM Katra Anil Chandel, Additional SP Sumir Kotwal, DK Kapoor, RS Manhas, Sharda Devi, Manisha Sharma, Ghansara Singh, Laddi Sharma, Ramnik Sharma, Jatinder Heera and Mohan Prashar.
