Lal Singh inaugurates Cricket Tourney

KATHUA, June 22: Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings, Choudhary Lal Singh today said that the Government is committed to revive the sports culture in the State and provide talented youth an opportunity to refine and showcase their skills.
“For this purpose massive sports infrastructure is being created across the State,” the Minister told a gathering    at Hatli Sports Stadium after inaugurating one day cricket tournament.
Lal Singh said Government is making all out efforts to organize more and more sports events in the district adding that sports help in  channelizing the energy of the youth towards constructive purposes and  help in  their overall personality development.
The Minister said the Government has started several mega projects to strengthen and upgrade sports infrastructure adding that crores of Rupees have been earmarked for construction of sports fields and stadiums at tehsil and district levels so that sportsmen are provided required infrastructure to prepare for various national and international competitions.
The Minister also informed that the sports infrastructure is being upgraded to accelerate the activities of Youth Sports and Welfare Department, particularly to promote sports talent in the rural areas.
Hundreds of sports lovers of the district gathered and witnessed the cricket matches in sports stadium with full joy.
Minister said that today’s   tournament has been organized with an educative purpose to aware the youth about participation in games and sports for physical and mental development than indulging in drug addiction and other anti-social activities.
Choudhary Lal Singh asked the concerned officers to seek cooperation of the education and other departments besides local sports clubs to organise sports events. He said it would further help to promote sports culture among the younger generation.
Later, the Minister gave away memento and cash prize  amounting to Rs. 51000 to the winning team and Rs. 11000 each to runner up teams respectively.
