LEH, Mar 9: In a proud moment for Ladakh, young ice hockey player Aamir Ali Nordakh, son of Mohd Abass Nordakh, has brought international recognition to the region after winning the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award as his team clinched the California State Ice Hockey Championship in Los Angeles.
Aamir delivered an outstanding performance in the championship match against the Mighty Ducks, displaying impressive speed, skill and game awareness on the ice. His decisive contribution played a key role in his team’s victory and ultimately helped them secure the state title.
With his exceptional display, Aamir was named the MVP of the championship, recognising his crucial role in guiding his side to the prestigious win.
Following this triumph, Aamir’s team has also qualified for the USA National Ice Hockey Championship, which is scheduled to be held in Philadelphia.
Aamir’s achievement has brought pride not only to his family but also to Ladakh, a region increasingly gaining recognition for its passion and talent in winter sports, particularly ice hockey. Blessed with long winters and natural frozen surfaces, Ladakh has steadily emerged as an important hub for the sport in India, with many youngsters taking up ice hockey with enthusiasm.
