LEH, Feb 14: In a historic moment for Ladakh, Stanzin Lundup from Toro Pa, Hemis Shukpachan, represented India in the men’s 10km interval start freestyle cross-country skiing event at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. Competing at the Tesero Cross-Country Skiing Stadium, the young Indian Army athlete completed the race in 28 minutes and 26.7 seconds, finishing 104th overall among the world’s top skiers.
Stanzin’s participation marks a significant milestone for Ladakh, showcasing the region’s potential in winter sports. His journey from the high-altitude slopes of Hemis Shukpachan to the Olympic stage highlights his resilience, endurance, and determination.
The Ladakh Ski and Snowboard Association congratulated him.
