LEH, Nov 21: ‘Ladakh Scouts Red’ team with 183 points lifted the 2nd Traditional Martyr’s Cup Running Archery tournament Trophy, while ‘Sabu Phu Red’ with 164 points was the runners- up followed by ‘Fight to Win Thiksay’with 152 points as the 2nd runners-up.
The day long Traditional Archery tournament sponsored by Oppo Mobile was organized by Ladakh Buddhist Association Youth Wing.
Thirty archers representing different clubs participated in the tournament.  The winner of the tournament was awarded with cash prize of Rs.11,000, followed by cash prize of Rs.7000 to 1st runners-up and Rs.5000 to 2nd runners-up.
Tsering Namgyal of Saboo Phu Red with 56 points was the highest individual scorer to receive Rs.18500. The highest Target hitter Tsering Motup of Saser Kangri bagged cash prize of Rs.5000.
Family members of the martyrs Sonam Angchok elder brother of Tashi Angchok Saspol,  Ven Lobzang Tsultim of Lobon Liker Gonpa, Sonam Gonbo elder brother of Nawang Rinchen Sankar, Tsering Dorjay father of Tsewang Dorjay Saboo and Tsering Dolkar wife of Tsering Stobdan Durbuk were the guests of honour on the occasion, while Councillors Venerable Lobzang Nyantak, Sayeeda Ladakhi, Rinchen Lhamo, Advocate Mohammad Nazir and Ven. Sonam Chhosphel were guest of honor. Anjuman Imamiya President Asharf Ali Barcha,  Anjuman Moin Ul Islam Vice President Dr.Noor and District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Tashi were other dignitaries present during the tournament.
Speaking on behalf of Martyrs family Sonam Gonbo while expressing his gratitude to LBA youth for organizing such tournament said that Government had promised  land, however, 25 years of Council rule failed to give any land.
LBA President Tsewang Thinles said that such tournaments are aimed at remembering the martyrs and if we failed to remember them then in future no one will come forward for the cause of Ladakh and he thanked LBA youth for organizing such tournament to pay tribute to them.
Ladakh Buddhist Association Youth Wing President Rinchen Namgyal said that apart from paying tribute to these martyrs such tournament  aimed to promote and encourage the local youth to maintain their interest in this traditional archery sports as well engage their mind and spirit in the sports and avoid unnecessary involvement in social evils.
On the occasion LBA announced to donate half kanals of Land to each of the Martyrs families. Nominated Councillors Rinchen Lhamo and Sayeeda Ladakhi announced to donate Rs. 1,00,000 each while Advocate Nazir donated Rs.50,000 and other  Councillors assured help in future.
LBA General Secretary Tsewang Dorjay Daya presented the vote of thanks.
