Ladakh holds Pencak Silat C’ship cum trials for Federation Cup

LEH, June 20: The Ladakh Pencak Silat Association, in collaboration with District Youth Services and Sports Department, organized the State-Level Pencak Silat Championship-cum-Trial in Leh, here today.
This important event served as a selection trial for the upcoming 9th Federation Cup 2025, which is scheduled to be held in Leh from August 2 to 4 and is expected to host over 500 athletes from across India. Around 90 students from various schools and institutes across Leh participated in the championship, displaying remarkable enthusiasm, discipline and sportsmanship.
The event provided a vital platform for identifying top talent and several skilled players have now been shortlisted to represent Ladakh at the national level. A dedicated training camp for approximately 50 selected athletes—senior and junior men and women from Leh and Kargil will be launched soon to prepare them for the Federation Cup. Druk Padma Karpo School emerged as the overall champion with 20 medals, while Islamia Public School secured the runner-up position with 12 medals.
The championship was graced by chief guest Tsering Tashi, Youth Services and Sports Officer and representatives from prominent institutions including Delhi Public School Leh. The Association also announced the Khelo India Women’s League and a second selection trial, both to be held in July, aiming to further promote martial arts and empower young athletes in the region.
